27 free concerts at Fano Jazz By The Sea 2019: here’s what they are

by Emanuele Fortino

Beyond the Main Stage where the most important international Jazz artists will play, Fano Jazz By The Sea offers free events dedicated to music: the Exodus Stage, and the Green Jazz Village which hosts the Young Stage and the Cosmic Journey.

Exodus Stage

The fourth edition of the Exodus Stage will take place in the Pinacoteca di San Domenico. The protagonist of this section is one of the values that best embodies the spirit of Jazz: solidarity. Since its origins, jazz music was linked to men’s civil rights, as recognized by UNESCO in 2012, which makes this form of art the perfect catalyst to put a serious reflection on one of the crucial problems of our time: the migration of immigrants forced to escape from their devastated homelands from wars and poverty. As a genre created by immigrants, jazz is the ideal vehicle for spreading a message of social inclusivity that is more than ever indispensable today.

There will be a total of 6 concerts hosted at the Pinacoteca. The Senegalese multi-instrumentalist Dudù Kouatè will kick off the event on Monday, July 22nd. In the days to follow, acclaimed musicians in Jazz and in other musical fields such as Luciano Biondini, the Brazilian cellist Jaques Morelenbaum – known also for his collaborations with big names of Brazilian Popular Music – and then the American saxophonists Maria Grand with a concert inspired by Greek mythology. Dan Kinzelman will perform using particular breathing techniques to test the limits of the mind and of the body, and finally from Tel Aviv, the formidable double bass player Adam Ben Ezra, who has carved a unique place in the international music scene thanks to his virtuosity and his natural musicality, will close the stage.
