Beyond the Main Stage where the most important international Jazz artists will play, Fano Jazz By The Sea offers free events dedicated to music: the Exodus Stage, and the Green Jazz Village which hosts the Young Stage and the Cosmic Journey.
The fourth edition of the Exodus Stage will take place in the Pinacoteca di San Domenico. The protagonist of this section is one of the values that best embodies the spirit of Jazz: solidarity. Since its origins, jazz music was linked to men’s civil rights, as recognized by UNESCO in 2012, which makes this form of art the perfect catalyst to put a serious reflection on one of the crucial problems of our time: the migration of immigrants forced to escape from their devastated homelands from wars and poverty. As a genre created by immigrants, jazz is the ideal vehicle for spreading a message of social inclusivity that is more than ever indispensable today.
There will be a total of 6 concerts hosted at the Pinacoteca. The Senegalese multi-instrumentalist Dudù Kouatè will kick off the event on Monday, July 22nd. In the days to follow, acclaimed musicians in Jazz and in other musical fields such as Luciano Biondini, the Brazilian cellist Jaques Morelenbaum – known also for his collaborations with big names of Brazilian Popular Music – and then the American saxophonists Maria Grand with a concert inspired by Greek mythology. Dan Kinzelman will perform using particular breathing techniques to test the limits of the mind and of the body, and finally from Tel Aviv, the formidable double bass player Adam Ben Ezra, who has carved a unique place in the international music scene thanks to his virtuosity and his natural musicality, will close the stage.

Green Jazz Village: Young Stage and Cosmic Journey
The Green Jazz Village is undoubtly the soul of the Festival. The place, located in front of the Rocca Malatestiana, is where the festival advocates the cause of sustainability and the development of the region. It’s a space that embodies promotion and hospitality through FREE concerts, educational initiatives such as the Music Campus, art installations, Yoga & Jazz Experience, a Children’s Area, a vintage market, info point, merchandising and a Green Corner.
At the Village you can also enjoy zero km food and wine products thanks to Food, Beer Stand, Jazz & Wine, or simply our Plastic Free water! The Jazz Village will also be the arrival point of a bike ride that will take place on the streets of Fano along the waterfront and the historic center on Saturday 20 July, starting at 5 pm from the Pincio, Arco di Augusto.
From 7.30 pm the music will invade the village starting with the Young Stage. It is the space dedicated to emerging young talents in the music scene. Here jazz blends with the contemporary languages of music in a platform through which Fano Jazz By The Sea is committed on promoting promising young musicians for a generational turnover in the world of jazz music as well as to bring innovation to this genre. The Young Stage will be held from July 20th to July 27th every evening at 7:30 pm.
It starts with Anais Drago & The Jellyfish followed by jazz and rap fusion project The ZĒ. Experience, featuring Ethiopisn rapper Avex. Taking the stage next is saxophonist Marco Postacchini and his Octet in a performance abled to bend the typical features of a Jazz combo to the most innovative and contemporary expression. Next are the trio of the Genoese pianist Tommaso Perazzo, winner of the Massimo Urbani 2018 International Prize and the trio of pianist Domenico Sanna, who is considered as one of the most elegant and refined jazz artists to emerge in recent years, and American saxophonist Maria Grand, who dialogues with the other two components of the trio in a dialectic between tradition and the most innovative spirit of jazz.
Last in order are Claudio Jr. De Rosa saxophonist, arranger and composer, winner of several awards including the 1st Asian Saxophone Congress, Taiwan, the C. Bettinardi National Award of Piacenza, the Louis van Dijk Jazz Award and the Leiden Jazz Award and the Orchestra Mosaico, a group composed of young talents from the ages of 6 to 16 coming from the Music Campus directed by Jean Gambini on the mornings from Monday 22nd to Friday 26th.
From 11 pm the Cosmic Journey begins: an event dedicato to the younger generation who wants to abandon themselves in a journey of innovative music and electronic sounds in the company of established DJs and experimenters like Daykoda, Rythmical Archives, Ross, LNDFK, Technoir, Luca Petinari, Funk Shui Project & Davide Shorty and Telios de Lorca.
Fano Jazz By The Sea offers a broad, largely free cultural proposal that aims to combine the social themes of eco-sustainability and hospitality with the thrill of music.
