Dhafer Youssef is an iconic figure in a music made of many musics, where in his case Middle Eastern tradition meets jazz, electronics, and more. His instrument is the oud, the Arabic lute, a symbol of the entire musical culture that extends from North Africa towards Asia. Avoiding any false exoticism, Dhafer Youssef outlines new and varied musical visions, also thanks to the use of his voice, which possesses great expressive depth.
